Prisoners’ Justice Day Vigil
Unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin Territory | Ottawa

WHERE?
Major Hill’s Park
(by the Unfinished Sun Dial, near the steps down to the Byward Market beside the American Embassy)

WHEN?
Today | Monday, August 10th
7:30pm to 9:30pm

WHO?
Following a land acknowledgement and brief introduction to PJD, people who have been incarcerated at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre, family and community members will speak, while statements from currently incarcerated people and Senator Kim Pate will be read by community members.

WHY?
To commemorate the lives of those who have died behind bars.
To demand prisons change to the extent that is possible.
To echo abolitionist calls to replace caging with care and compassion in the wake of conflict and harm.
